Gomphaeschna antilope
(Taper-tailed Darner)
Gomphaeschna antilope is not often encountered in Alabama or Mississippi, and appears to be very rare in the northern half of each state. This late spring species breeds in wooded swamps and is most often seen foraging over nearby fields, dirt roads, or other forest openings.
