Sympetrum ambiguum
(Blue-faced Meadowhawk)
Sympetrum ambiguum is probably the most commonly encountered member of the genus in Alabama and Mississippi; it is apparently more common in the northern portion of both states. The usual habitat includes marshy stream pools, small lakes, and ponds.
