Somatochlora tenebrosa
(Clamp-tipped Emerald)
Somatochlora tenebrosa is fairly common in the northern portions of Alabama and Mississippi, and it is occasionally encountered to the south in both states. The breeding habitat is typically small forested streams, but most individuals are found as they forage along dirt roads or other forest openings away from the water.
