Nehalennia integricollis has been found at widely scattered localities throughout Alabama and Mississippi. This species may be more common than records indicate, but its tiny size and habit of preferring the thickest cover often prevents it from being noticed. The habitat is usually shallow margins of ponds and lakes, with emergent vegetation.
