Nehalennia gracilis
(Sphagnum Sprite)
Nehalennia gracilis is a rarely encountered damselfly in Alabama and Mississippi, having been documented from only five counties in the former and one in the latter. It is apparently restricted to spring fed seepage drains or ditches and the boggy margins of spring-influenced beaver ponds, often associated with Sphagnum, in the southern portion of its range.
