Gomphurus hybridus
(Cocoa Clubtail)
Gomphurus hybridus occurs in scattered localities across much of Mississippi and southwestern Alabama and is probably more common than current records suggest. The breeding habitat of this early flying, brownish species -- silty, sluggish rivers and large streams -- is often overlooked by odonate enthusiasts.
