CABBAGE WHITE
Pieris rapae
Found throughout both Alabama and Mississippi, flying spring to fall. An introduced European species not typically found in natural habitats. Underside of wings varies between white and lemon yellow in color. The upper surface of the forewing has a black patch at the tip of the wing and either one (male) or two (female) black spots that can often be seen from the underside. The hindwing is unmarked.
