TAWNY-EDGED SKIPPER
Polites themistocles
Common and expected to occur throughout both Alabama and Mississippi. A small, dull skipper with tawny orange along the leading edge of the forewing both above and below. Sometimes has a pale spotband on the lower surface of the hindwing. Males have a thick black stigma. Female brown above with pale spots on the forewing. Similar species: Crossline Skipper
