Habroscelimorpha severa
(Saltmarsh Tiger Beetle)
Habroscelimorpha severa occurs at a few localities along the Gulf Coast in Alabama and Mississippi; habitat is typically moist mud or sand (sometimes saline) with sparse vegetation, such as salt “pannes”, tidal flats, and salt marshes. Often occurs with H. pamphila and E. hamata. This summer species is most active early and late in the day, and it is usually very wary.
