Ladona deplanata is a very common, early season species that is expected to occur statewide in both Alabama and Mississippi. This dragonfly is found at a variety of lentic habitats, including man-made ponds and lakes, beaver swamps, oxbow lakes, and occasionally pools in slowly flowing streams; it is often quite abundant.
