Dromogomphus armatus
(Southeastern Spinyleg)
Dromogomphus armatus is a large, strikingly marked dragonfly that can be found around small seeps, slowly flowing streams, and (rarely) ponds, always with an organic muck substrate. A rarely encountered species, its distribution in Mississippi is restricted to the extreme southeastern corner of the state; in Alabama, it occurs in a few widely scattered populations below the Fall Line.
