MESKE'S SKIPPER
Hesperia meskei
Known to occur in only three counties in Alabama (Baldwin, Cleburne, and Tuscaloosa), this species is found primarily in dry, sandhill pinelands. A fairly large skipper, the ventral surfaces of the wings are yellow-orange and the hindwing has a paler chevron-shaped spot band that may be difficult to see in fresh individuals.
