EASTERN TAILED-BLUE
Cupido comyntas
One of the most common species in the southeast and likely to occur in all counties in both Alabama and Mississippi. Flies spring to fall. The only blue in the east with tails. Ventral surface of wings light gray with numerous black spots and one to three orange spots on hindwing near tails. Dorsal surface of males' wings bright iridescent blue; females' wings mostly black with some blue. Both males and females have two orange spots on dorsal hindwing near tails.
