Calopterygidae (Broad-winged Damsels)
Calopterygidae (Broad-winged Damsels)
In Alabama and Mississippi, there are two genera and five species of broad-winged damselflies. Their nymphs can be distinguished by the very long first antennal segment, which is as long as all the other segments combined. Calopterygid nymphs are almost always found in flowing water, where they climb on aquatic vegetation, root masses, or other similar structure.
